HostNine
Reviews
This is a review for HostNine Reseller plan from the SEO perspective. In this review I’m gonna take a different look at this hosting provider. Officially it’s not what is called an “SEO hosting” service provider, but the features available allow you to use it like one.
In this review I’m gonna use the following criteria. Nothing surprising here except that I’m gonna pay a lot of attention to what this service can do for the SEO. I’m gonna look at:
- SEO compatibility
- Ease of use
- Uptime and reliability
- Support
The main reason why I’ve signed up for HostNine was to get hosting for multiple websites on different C-class IP addresses for SEO purposes. As I mentioned, HostNine isn’t actually an SEO hosting service, but they provide different server locations in different parts of the world to choose from when setting up websites as a reseller – that equals to different IPs, which is what we want. Currently they offer 6 locations – 1 in Singapore, 1 in UK and 4 in the USA.
That’s not a lot of different IPs but each location also offers a couple more C-class IPs making it about 10+ IPs. Compared to other SEO hosting services, that’s a lot to get for $20 a month. That’s especially great for anyone to who is just starting out in SEO.
The reseller panel is easy to use, you can select a server location when creating a website account, once you do that you get access to CPanel and it’s the usual website managment from there. There’s just one “unadvertised feature” to know – to ensure you get different IPs in the same location, you have to use the same account name in that location. Though even if you don’t use the same name, you can always change the IP for a website even after it’s already created.
The uptime of the HostNine Reseller servers is not exactly perfect – the websites are up most of the time but I did catch some of them down or very slow on a few occasions. At the time of writing this I’ve noticed on the forums they’re dealing with DDoS attacks, so it might explain some of that. Regardless, the fact is that there is some downtime and if you were hosting “money” websites with decent traffic, it’s not exactly the uptime you’d want to see. However for SEO hosting where the traffic is secondary and is minimal, it’s fine, especially at that price point. So I don’t have any complaints there as far as this SEO oriented review goes.
Lastly, the support of HostNine is very good. I’ve only had to deal with it a couple times, but every time they were fast to respond and helpful. A definite thumbs up there.
Overall, HostNine Reseller plan is a great hosting service for SEO at a very cheap price point compared to other SEO hosting companies. You don’t get too many IPs but there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want to get some extra cheap IPs if you’re already hosting your network, and if you’re new to this, you don’t have to pay through the nose just to get your feet wet.

Great post, but I do not quite get the bit about the cpanel and using the same name? I would have thought that using the same name would mean you would get the same ip?

They’ve changed their cpanel since, so it doesn’t apply anymore. You can now change the IP anytime without any special tricks.
