Things I Did Right When I Started Out Online

It’s not a secret that I started making money almost the same day when I began my online business. I didn’t look for “make money” programs, I haven’t bought any courses, I just did it. Was it pure luck? No, there was just something I did right and it wasn’t by accident.

Building an online business doesn’t start online, it starts in your head. You either have enough business knowledge to do it or you don’t. I had. Even though I’ve never run a business before, I had some theoretical knowledge that I’ve picked up in the university as well as I had a general understanding of what a business is by observing other successful people.

The first right thing to do was to apply that knowledge online. I knew that the business plan starts in my head, and before even starting to learn various internet marketing methods I had to come up with a value proposition, a product to offer. Otherwise, what good will any marketing techniques do if I don’t even have what to market?

Now you see all these newbies complaining how this week’s push button get rich quick software didn’t work, and how they keep looking for a “program to make them money” for years. I can’t help but wonder if these people know where money comes from in first place.

When I started out, I had a plan. I had an idea and I’ve implemented it. I’ve made so many mistakes as far as internet marketing goes that it’s not even funny, yet I made money. I knew I would make money, because that’s how business works.

If you want to make money online, to start an online business, but keep hitting a wall, consider this. There’s a reason why this is happening to you, and it’s not because there are so many scams out there. It’s all in your head. You don’t have a plan, you don’t have the basic knowledge about business. That’s what you need to fix. Learn about doing business, come up with a business plan first, then start looking how to implement it.

Now you might be thinking, “but I don’t want to run a business, I just want to make money”. Tough! That’s how money is made – by conducting business. If you don’t want to run one, stop wasting your time and get a job (or stick to the one you have).

  1. Hey,

This is so true. A business starts in your head and not by using a 1-Click software. Even if you do not have a clue about internet marketing, you just need to start. You actually have to make a lot of errors to see what works and what not. I always write down my ideas, implement them and see if they perform well. It is all about taking action, but still people fall for the guru scam, because they think making money on the internet is just clicking a push-button.

I have been watching your blog for a long time now and I really like the stuff that you are writing. Thanks for the inspiring article and keep up with the good reviews.

  2. NO EASY MONEY ONLINE ( NO HARD MONEY EITHER)

The truth just never gets old, does it. I mean really now, who in their right mind thinks like people do on the internet these days? They want a plugin system to create wealth without any effort…..Tough! It just does not exist and I am impressed withyyour site. Everytime I am looking for an honest review I find it here. What I have learnt in my years online (both as consumer and IM) is that:

    1. On the internet most businesses require less capital outlay and have less overhead because of software automation and other mass market properties than the outside world (I know I am also in business offline). There is no way you can get any money without working for it or investing your money so someone does it for you. If you are lazy just forget any kind of business.

    2. There are many LIERS AND SCAMMERS online and they will fabricate a great many a story to part you with your money.

    3. There are some GOOD HONEST FOLKS online – REALLY. Some will even give you entire affiliate marketing courses for FREE (video ebooks etc.) with no strings attached – REALLY! These are the not so famous Super affiliates and consultants who hate most of the crud in IM these days. I salute these people and think they deserve the ‘donations’ their students give them as they have worked for them.

    4. Very few people (as in programmers) actually have any idea how the whole ARPNET as I like to call it works.

    Good luck and kind regards

  4. I think the first hurdle is that people are convinced that it’s easy – and quick – to make money online. Well it’s not. You have a lot to learn, a lot of work to do, and the stamina to keep at it.
Finding the help to save time wasting is difficult, and newbies need guidance on exactly where to start, and what basic tools you need.
Which ever route you’re trying, you do need to make a plan, even if it’s scribbled on a piece of parchment. When you meet an obstacle, write it down, search your question, and try to avoid buying ‘magic button’ systems.
I’ve done a ton of things wrong, but they are behind me as I start to apply my new knowledge. It’s OK to make a mistake, once, even twice. But learn and avoid doing it again, and move on.
    Cheers

  5. I found this blog because I had been scammed by the ICE product – or to put it another way, I was stupid enough to be taken in. But apart from the obvious life lessons I learned, I had some small ideas about monetising sites by copying in essence what ICE is supposed to do automatically. (Automagically perhaps? It needs Harry Potter to make it work as it says!)

Anyway, I have an offline business anyway which is my day job. So I linked my website to my internet marketing website and in the last two weeks have made 4.03 Euros in Google AdSense. It does not sound much but it bears out the lesson given in this article. The plan was in place and I understood what a website needs to do in order to gain money. So now I need to make 4 Euros into 40 Euros, then 400 Euros and I think I know where to go.

So from a very new internet marketer, this is a vote of heartfelt thanks for the information and advice which is so freely given by the blog owner and contributors. Thank you.
